Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will not attend the continued Monsoon session in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The records also said that Jagdeep Dhankhar is not going to give his farewell speech.
The tenure of 74-year-old Jagdeep Dhankhar, who’s also the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, was till 2027. His resignation came on the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament.

“To prioritise health care and abide via medical recommendation, I hereby surrender because the Vice President of India. I extend my inner most gratitude to Your Excellency – the Hon’ble President of India for her unwavering support and the good working relationships we maintained for the duration of my tenure,” Dhankhar said.
Congress curiosity to know reason behind resignation
His sudden resignation cause hypotheses in political circles. The Congress said there have been “a ways deeper reasons” for Dhankhar’s resignation. “Something very severe occurred the day before among 1 PM and 4:30 PM to account for the deliberate absence of Shri Nadda and Shri Rijiju from the BAC yesterday. Now in a really unheard of move, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned. He has given health reasons for doing so. Those need to be respected. But it’s also a fact that there are a ways deeper reasons for his resignation,” Congress leader Jairam Ramesh post on X. The Congress has also urged PM Modi to persuade Dhankhar to change his mind, pronouncing it would be in the interest of the state.
