Following the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) bypoll election, Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal congratulated his party candidates and took a jab at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Although the BJP won 7 seats compared to AAP’s 3, it lost two seats. Kejriwal mentioned that AAP is gaining momentum after just ten months of losing power.
Kejriwal Hit BJP over Delhi MCD Bypoll
Impressed with the results, Kejriwal wrote on X, “In this corporation by-election, the AAP fielded its dedicated workers, and the people of Delhi have made it clear through their vote that support for AAP is growing.”
He added, “In just 10 months, the public’s trust is quickly returning to the Aam Aadmi Party. Delhi is soon returning to positive politics and good work.”
The official X account of the party also took a shot at the BJP for losing two seats. It shared a poster highlighting the BJP’s drop from nine seats to seven.
MCD By-Polls: Mixed Verdict as AAP, BJP, Congress Win Seats
The by-elections for 12 MCD wards took place on November 30, and the results were announced today. The Aam Aadmi Party won in Mundka, Dakshinpuri, and Naraina, while the BJP secured Shalimar Bagh B, Dichaon Kalan, Greater Kailash, Dwarka-B, Ashok Vihar, Vinod Nagar, and Chandni Chowk.
The Congress won the Sangam Vihar seat, and the All India Forward Bloc claimed the Chandni Mahal seat. Meanwhile, there was a controversy regarding the counting of votes for the Ashok Vihar seat. Former AAP MLA and Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that the Election Commission’s website first reported the AAP candidate as the winner; however, that changed after a recount, and the BJP was declared the victor.
