Fate comes for BJP’s Rohini MLA Vijender Gupta. He has been marshaled out of the Delhi Assembly by Speaker in AAP regime. Gupta will now wield the baton as the new speaker. 10 years before, erstwhile Speaker Ram Niwas Goel order Marshals thrown out Vijender Gupta from the house amid an uproar over alleged derogatory remarks by BJP’s OP Sharma against the AAP MLA Alka Lamba
Goel asked Gupta, then-Leader of Opposition, to leave the Assembly House for some period. He refused and resisted attempts to remove forcibly by holding on to bench. The staff managed to evict him. Before removal, Gupta accused the speaker of partial towards ruling AAP. He alleged that three BJP legislators has abused and assaulted by ruling party MLAs.

Marshals removed him from the floor on various occasions whenever the BJP leader raised his voice against the AAP party. After Marshals thrown out Vijender Gupta, Following the appointment as Speaker, Gupta said, “I am thankful to party to give me responsibility of Speaker of Delhi Assembly. I will complete my responsibility. I hope we will have good discussions in Assembly House.”
Gupta is associated with RSS from long time, having been a ‘swayamsevak’ since childhood. In early 80s, he became active in student politics, that paved the way for long political career. He was Delhi convener of BJP’s student wing and in 1984, and vice president of DU students’ union.
He was nominated as president of Delhi BJP in 2010, a post he held for 3 years. In 2015, Gupta was among three MLAs who won despite the AAP wave. Then, He was appointed as the Leader of the Opposition.
