Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor reacted for the first time after the party’s poor showing in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly elections. He took a vow of silence for failing to change the government. He speak to media and take full responsibility for the party’s performance.
Prashant Kishor spoke, “Will Quit If JDU Fulfills 2 Lakhs Promise”
“We tried our best, but we failed to change this government. It seems we missed the mark somewhere. I take all the blame on myself for not helping people understand. We will reflect on our actions. I’m sorry I failed in our efforts. I will observe a vow of silence for a day,” said the poll strategist-turned-politician.
Kishor’s party contested 238 of Bihar’s 243 Assembly seats but did not win any. The ruling NDA alliance, led by the BJP and Nitish Kumar’s JDU, won 202 seats (BJP 89 and JDU 85). Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) played a key role by securing 19 seats.
Major setback in Bihar elections
“We made an honest effort, but it was completely unsuccessful. Forget about changing the system; we couldn’t even change the power system. However, we did play some role in shifting Bihar’s politics. There must have been some mistakes in our approach and in how we communicated to the public. If the public did not trust us, then I take full responsibility for that,” he said.
Prashant Kishor clarified that he would not be quitting, despite his pre-poll statement where he mentioned he would exit politics if JDU won more than 25 seats. This time, he made another vow: to retire from politics if the ruling government gives Rs 2 lakh each to 1.5 crore people as promised before the elections.
