Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra responded to PM Modi on Monday. She stated that discussing important issues like the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and air pollution in Delhi in Parliament is not a drama.
Before the Winter Session of Parliament, PM Modi criticized the Opposition, arguing that there should be action and that Parliament is not a place for theatrics.
In response to his comments, the Congress MP from Wayanad said, “…The election situation, SIR, and pollution are major issues. Let us discuss them. What is Parliament for? It’s not drama. Speaking about and raising issues is not drama. Drama is the refusal to allow democratic discussions on matters that concern the public.”
Why Priyanka Gandhi slams PM ?
In his usual media address before the session, PM Modi urged Opposition leaders not to make the Winter Session a platform for theatrics. He also jokingly suggested he could offer them advice on how to fulfill their official duties. He criticized the Opposition for their interruptions in the House proceedings, saying the MPs “should change their strategy” now.
PM said opposition to focus on delivery, not drama
“The tactics the Opposition has used for the previous 10 years are not acceptable to the people. They should change their strategy. I am ready to give them some tips,” the PM said.
“Anyone who wants to perform can do so. There should be results here, not drama. The focus should be on policy, not slogans,” he added. PM Modi emphasized that first-time MPs are frustrated because they do not have the opportunity to speak about issues in their constituencies.
“First-time MPs, regardless of their party, must be given a chance, and we should take this seriously. There are plenty of places for drama. There is room for that—but not here,” he said.
