Rahul Gandhi Reacts on Vote Chori Claims In Vice Presidential Polls

Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, had a heated discussion with Times Now. He accused the BJP of widespread “vote chori” and stated, “Vote chor, gaddi chhod.” Although he avoided questions about the growing crisis in Nepal, his comments led to a clash. BJP workers protested against his convoy in Raebareli, and Congress supporters responded with slogans aimed at the ruling party.

When asked about the allegations of vote chori in the Vice Presidential Polls, Rahul Gandhi replied, “Vote chor, gaddi chhod. This is happening all over the country and, in Uttar Pradesh, it’s happening everywhere.”

In response, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “I don’t know about vote chori, but Rahul ji should explain if Congress leaders’ brains have stolen. Now, Rahul ji is claiming that a vote of conscience in the V-P election is also a vote chori. How far will your propaganda go?”

‘Vote Chori’ Row

The ‘Vote Chori’ controversy started on August 7 when Rahul Gandhi alleged significant voter control in the 2024 parliamentary elections. He claimed that electoral rolls had altered and used constituency-level data to support his accusations. He pointed out that Mahadevapura, part of Bangalore Central, had over 100,000 suspicious entries, including duplicate voters, invalid addresses, and bulk registrations at the same location.

He said that there 100,250 votes involved in the “vote chori” in the Mahadevapura area, which included 11,965 duplicate voters, 40,009 voters with fake and invalid addresses, 10,452 bulk voters or voters at a single address, 4,132 voters with invalid photos, and 33,692 voters misusing Form 6 for new voters, some of whom were over 90 years old.
