"Ok Tata Bye Bye" - Paytm CEO under trouble for disrespectful remarks on Tata's death

The death of Ratan Tata at an age of 86 has shocked the world۔ All Indian tech CEOs and others business heads have been showing condolences over the great miss۔ The tributes continue to flow in but one that had to be deleted-the post by Vijay Shekhar Sharma, in which was the phrase “Ok Tata Bye Bye”, was a controversy.

Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma and People Group’s Anupam Mittal among many paid their tributes. But Vijay was severely trolled for his tribute which read “Ok Tata Bye Bye”. Many expressed a particular derision on seeing this as they found the phrase insulting. A screenshot of the post shared by Shivam Sourav Jha on X went viral and flak followed everybody’s way. Many people suggested that he used the moment for attention.

Other more respectful and better-received tributes came from former BharatPe CEO Ashneer Grover and ex-Xiaomi CEO Manu Kumar Jain, who shared regard for Tata. This post, however, stirred controversy when it challenged Sharma’s by trying out “Ok Tata Bye Bye,” which people termed to be a poorly drafted comment that is now at the center of much online talk۔

The deleted post reads:

“A legend who will inspire every generation. Entrepreneurs of the next generation will miss interacting with the most humble businessman of India. Salutes, Sir. Ok Tata Bye Bye.”

The last rites of Ratan Tata were performed with full state honours at Mumbai on Wednesday. On behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was away on diplomatic assignment in Laos, Home Minister Amit Shah attended his last rites as Narendra Modi had described Tata as an extraordinary person a day before night.

The entire era in Indian business came to a closure with Tata gone. He was ever humble and philanthropic, and it is to the credit of his examples that generations ahead hold great regard for them. The veritable tidal wave of tributes that found their way from all corners ensure that his impact on industry and society cannot be questioned at all. “Ok Tata Bye Bye” sent shockwaves of controversy, but Tata remains as one of the pillars of the Indian industry.
