The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Technical Committee today met to assess 170 applications for the position of the Head Coach of India Football Team. After complete discussions and a selection process, 10 candidates selected for the committee and shortlist 3 candidates.

The committee wants to appoint a coach with a deep knowledge of the Asian and Indian soccer atmosphere are useful for national team’s success. Mr. I. M. Vijayan, Chairperson, Technical Committee, said, “Given the wishes of the national team, it’s helpful to train 3 coaches from the shortlisted pool. Other outstanding candidates, a number of whom are qualified coaches will taken into consideration in future.
Mr. Subrata Paul, Director, National Teams, said, “It is a crucial moment for Indian soccer. We’re devoted to appointing a coach who not brings technical knowledge but also understands the specific trends, tradition, and dynamics of Indian and Asian soccer.
Dismisses Fake Applications from Pep Guardiola and Xavi
AIFF received an email applications from Spanish coaches Pep Guardiola and Xavi Hernández. The authenticity of their applications not showed, and these applications not considered.
The committee said, “ We only shortlist the type of coach that connects with our players quickly and effectively. Our focus is on finding the professional who can enhance performance of India Football Team.” The Committee has recommended 3 names for the function of Head Coach, taking into account the urgency of upcoming fixtures.
