Earlier, Travis Head and Steve Smith were in commanding form, stitching together a massive 241-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Head smashed a spectacular 152, while Smith contributed a determined 101. The duo put Australia in the driver’s seat, eyeing a potential 2-1 series lead.
But Bumrah’s heroics later in the day, particularly with the second new ball, put a check on the Australian momentum. He kept bowling at proper lengths and made mistakes for the batsmen, who prove why he remains India’s best fast bowler.
With rain predicted for the remaining three days, India’s hopes of a win seem slim. A draw now appears to be the most realistic outcome unless conditions dramatically favor either side. Despite starting strong, India could not contain Head and Smith, who capitalized on every opportunity.
