Former tennis player Radhika Yadav was allegedly shot dead via her father on Thursday. Her father, Deepak Yadav arrested as he confessed to killing his daughter.
The 25-year-old former national-level player lived in Sector 57 of Sushant Lok-II along with her father, her mom, and her brother. The incident occurs around 2 pm at the family’s double-storey home in the upscale Sushant Lok area in Gurugram. Yadav shot his daughter while Radhika Yadav was on the first floor, cooking food in the kitchen.
Deepak Yadav fired at the least 5 gunshots, 3 of which hit Radhika, and killed her instantly. Police seized a 32 bore licensed revolver, which Deepak Yadav that allegedly used in the murder.
Reason behind Radhika Yadav Murder
Sources show that that Deepak Yadav confessed that he shot at Radhika because he taunted for living off her income. Police claim in official statement that a tennis academy that Radhika ran was the bone of rivalry between the father and the daughter. “Radhika used to run a tennis academy, and her father was not happy with it,” Gurugram police said.
“He wanted her to close down the academy, but she refused. He shot her dead over the same dispute,” assistant commissioner of police Yashwant Yadav said.
Who was Radhika?
Radhika Yadav, born on March 23, 2000, was a famous tennis player who had made her mark on both national and international systems. She achieve the 113th position in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles rankings and placed in the top 200 globally in the same category. In Haryana, she ranked 5th in women doubles. Radhika was visible as one of the rising stars in Indian tennis, competing with other top players.
