Rajat Patidar name is announced as captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for IPL 2025, that is set to starts on 21 March. The expectation is that Virat Kohli will lead the team as RCB captain again, but this time, Rajat Patidar is announced as captain. This announcement was made on Thursday in Bangalore at an event attended by head coach Andy Flower, team director Mo Bobat, and Patidar.
Rajat Patidar: A New RCB captain
Rajat Patidar is the 8th captain of the RCB team, and he played three seasons before. He has grown up as a key batter because of his score of 799 runs in 28 matches with a strike rate of 158.85. There is calmness in Rajat, and he will stand in good stead, especially in IPL, Andy Flower said. He also said further, “he is quiet guy, but he care about other players around him. He has all qualities of a leader.”
Mo Bobat confirmed that Kohli was an option. Both Rajat and Virat are credible captaincy auctions, he said. “We didn’t want to go into the auctions with a captaincy option.”
