Doctor team assigned for Iyer in Sydney
The Indian team management confirmed that the team doctor will stay in Sydney with Shreyas Iyer to track his progress before deciding on his return to India.
A source close to the situation told PTI news agency that Iyer kept under observation as a precaution after internal bleeding found. The 31-year-old had injured himself after taking a great running catch at backward point to dismiss Alex Carey. He showed signs of discomfort and rushed to the hospital right after returning to the dressing room, where his vital signs reportedly fluctuated.
While Iyer originally expected to be out for around three weeks, his recovery timeline may now depend on how quickly he heals and further medical assessments.
