Google announced that it will invest $15 billion in India over the next five years. This investment includes a large data centre and an artificial intelligence base in Andhra Pradesh, marking its largest AI hub outside the US.
The company will construct a 1-gigawatt data centre campus in Visakhapatnam. This campus will integrate AI infrastructure, extensive energy sources, and an improved fibre-optic network.

Google has partnered with the Adani Group for the AI data centre campus. This is Google’s biggest investment in India to date.
“It’s the largest AI hub that we are going to invest in anywhere in the world outside of the US,” said Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian during an event in Delhi to formalize the agreement. He mentioned that Google plans for the centre to “scale to multiple gigawatts” in the future.
Leaders and ministers attend launch event
Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and state IT Minister Nara Lokesh also attended the event.
Vaishnaw expressed gratitude to Google for the investment. “This digital infrastructure will significantly help us achieve our India AI vision,” he said. Naidu described the day as “very happy,” while Lokesh called the deal a “game-changing investment” that followed “a year of intense discussions and relentless effort.”
“It is a massive leap for our state’s digital future, innovation, and global standing,” he posted on X. “This is just the beginning,” he said.
