Union Home Minister Amit Shah Launches Mobile App for Birth and Death Registration

Mobile App for Birth and Death Registration

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Tuesday launched a new mobile app for birth and death registration to make the entire process of birth and death registrations an easier task. The App, under the name Civil Registration System (CRS), is soon going to simplify the report and registration process of such events, directly through mobile phones anywhere and at any time.

This mobile app for birth and death registration is part of the efforts of the government in integrating technology with governance. Mr. Shah pointed out that this application has made it possible to make the registrations in the official language of each State, thereby reducing the time and effort required.

Benefits of Mobile App for Birth and Death Registration

Now, citizens can submit information regarding births and deaths on a central platform, which makes registration faster and more accessible than ever. This is in line with the Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Act, 2023, which mandated that all registrations since 1st October 2023 be registered digitally with the national portal.

An important feature of a new mobile app for birth registration is that it now issues an automatically generated digital birth certificate. These certificates will be available to provide authentic documents at the time of entry to schools, job employment within the government sector, registration of marriages, and on various occasions.

In aggregating the data, this application also helps in backing up other significant databases like the NPR, which was the last updation done back in 2015. The NPR is used as a foundational base of national identification. It is hence expected to be supported well by the system in providing it with seamless updations of data.

Why did Amit show Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s statue during app launch?

During the app’s launching ceremony, Amit Shah even inaugurated a Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel statue at New Delhi’s Census Building. He stated Patel is the symbol of strength and commitment. According to him, this is a reminder for the nation of Iron Man’s commitment to unity.

“This statue of the Iron Man, a symbol of struggle and sacrifice for national interest, will continue to inspire everyone as a testament to his unwavering dedication to establishing democratic values in the country,”

This digital shift towards an all-inclusive registration system, which one could access in real-time through a mobile application, is indeed a big step forward toward making service delivery through government more efficient and accessible to the citizenry.
