A British Tourists ordered to leave India after they placed stickers supporting Palestine against Israel in various public spots in Ajmer, Rajasthan. The Intelligence Department, including both CID and IB, took the matter seriously and alerted the district police, leading to the interrogation of the two British nationals.
British Tourists get ” Leave India” Notice
Lewis Gabriel D. and his girlfriend, Anushi Emma Christine, had entered India on tourist visas and staying in Pushkar. On January 21, authorities learned about their involvement in the sticker placement. The Intelligence Department examined CCTV footage and local information to identify the suspects.
The district police became involved after the Intelligence Department deemed the situation serious. A team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Meena interrogated the suspects.
Tourists violate visa conditions by use Free-Palestine Stickers in Pushkar
The interrogation showed that British Tourists participated in political activities while on tourist visas, violating visa conditions. The district police later helped remove the stickers. Authorities took action under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, revoking both foreign nationals’ visas and issuing a “Leave India Notice,” instructing them to exit the country.
In such cases, foreign nationals may be detained and face deportation proceedings. Their future entry also prohibited into India. The authorities emphasized that political, protest, or ideological activities are not allowed while visiting on a tourist visa.
