The Airports Authority of India (AAI) on introduced the reopening of 32 airports in northern and western India for civil flight operations 3 days after their temporary closure was extended till Thursday next (May 15) amid escalating India-Pakistan battle concerning drones, missiles and long-range weapons that raised fears of a full-blown conflict.
Airports Reopens by AAI before closure of 15 May
“Attention Flyers; notice issued for immediate closure of 32 Airports for civil Aircraft operations until 05:29 hrs of 15 May 2025. It is come to know that those Airports are now available for civil Aircraft operations with immediately impact. It is suggested for guests to check flight status immediately with Airlines and monitor Airline’s websites for ordinary updates,” the aviation body said.
The government started reopening the airports on Sunday morning, said by officials, after Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) had been issued. A NOTAM is a written word to aviation stakeholders pronouncing a particular trade in the airspace of an airport or a country. One of the NOTAMs said airports under the Mumbai Flight Information Region, together with Mundra, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Kandla, Keshod, and Bhuj, were reopened.
