Bharat Taxi App Launches January 1 for Delhi Riders, 1, 56,000 drivers already on board

The Union government plans to launch a new cab-hailing platform, Bharat Taxi App, in Delhi starting January 1. The goal is to change how people book daily transport in the city.

The Bharat Taxi app is a government-supported initiative designed as an alternative to popular private cab services. It aims to tackle some common complaints from both passengers and drivers.

How does Bharat Taxi App is passenger-friendly?

One key feature of this app is its introduction of fixed fares. Passengers will pay the same amount regardless of rush hours, festive seasons, or weather disruptions.

Officials say fares will not change dynamically, which should reduce confusion and disputes over changing prices. For regular commuters, this brings clarity and helps them manage travel expenses better.

The app will also show clear fare details before booking, so users will know exactly how much they will be charged. This focus on transparency is seen as a significant difference from existing platforms.

What makes the revenue model more driver-friendly?

Bharat Taxi App proposes a driver-friendly revenue model. Drivers will earn over 80% of the total fare, which is much higher than what most private cab services currently provide. This change is expected to increase driver earnings and lessen reliance on high commissions.

Any extra income generated by the cooperative will be shared among its members, rather than going to a private company. In practical terms, this means drivers are likely to earn more per trip.
