A IndiGo flight carrying 161 passengers made an emergency landing at Delhi Airport due to engine failure on Saturday morning. This prompted authorities to declare a full emergency. All passengers were evacuated safely, and no damage has been reported, according to the fire department.
IndiGo Flight make Emergency Landing in Delhi
The department received information about the emergency landing at 10:54 AM and immediately dispatched fire trucks. The flight, a Boeing 737 with the number 6E 579, was traveling from Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to Delhi. IndiGo wet-leased the aircraft from Corendon Airlines in Turkey. The airline has five Corendon planes on a short-term lease.
Crew give assurance to passengers to fix issue shortly
IndiGo said that the technical issue was detected shortly before landing. “As a precaution and as per the standard procedure, the pilots requested priority for landing. The aircraft arrived safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Relevant authorities were informed promptly, and the aircraft is undergoing necessary checks and maintenance. At IndiGo, the safety of our customers and crew is our top priority,” said an airline spokesperson.
