Indian Railways work on Kashmir on track project and starts the industrial operations of Vande Bharat Express to connects Srinagar and Katra route from 7 June. It enhance connectivity and transforms journey across Jammu and Kashmir. The high-pace rail link’s release — set to run 6 days a week — coincides with the grand inauguration of the sector’s highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab river, which PM Modi will officially dedicate to the country on Friday.
The bridge is a feature of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link, a 272-km engineering project constructed at a cost of ₹43,780 crore, comprising 36 tunnels and 943 bridges.
Kashmir on track launch
The launch marks a milestone in connecting the Kashmir Valley to certainly one of India’s most sacred pilgrimage sites, Katra, thru modern rail infrastructure. To pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains includes Train No 26404/26403 and 26401/26402 will connects the Srinagar-Katra-Srinagar route with a key halt at Banihal.

Vande Bharat Train Set to run between Srinagar and Jammu
“We are waiting for the completion of infrastructure work under Kashmir on track project. After that, the Vande Bharat will run seamlessly between Srinagar and Jammu,” he said in Jammu on Wednesday. Senior railway officials also found out plans for a direct Delhi-Srinagar Vande Bharat provider. This train will feature sleeper coaches tailor-made for long travel and vicious weather conditions in the location.
“Trials will begin as soon as the sleeper Vande Bharat rakes are equipped. The train will more faster than both the Rajdhani and Shatabdi Expresses,” an official said.
