Mumbai Metro network expanded significantly on Tuesday with the launch of new sections of Line 9 and Line 2B. This development improves connectivity across key suburban areas and moves us closer to a fully integrated transport system in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
New Lines 9 and 2B Stretches expand Mumbai Metro Network
The first phase of Metro Line 9 links Dahisar East with Kashigaon in Thane district. CM Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, Sunetra Pawar, and other officials were present for the inauguration.
Passenger services on the new stretch will start on 8 April. The 5.6 km elevated corridor includes four stations, Dahisar East, Pandurangwadi, Miragaon, and Kashigaon. This marks the first metro line to enter the Thane district.
Save travel hours
“This metro will allow us to complete a journey that currently takes one to two hours in about 30 minutes,” Fadnavis said. Metro Line 9 will work with Mumbai Metro Line 7, creating a direct link between Andheri East and Mira-Bhayandar.
