The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has announced a major block on the Mumbai Pune Expressway for necessary maintenance work. This traffic block occurs on Tuesday, September 16, from 2 PM to 3 PM. During this time, all vehicles will be completely stopped on a crucial section of the road.
According to officials, the work includes repairs on the 22 KV Bhatan-Ajivali line near the Kon Bridge, between the 9.600 km and 9.700 km markers. To reduce congestion and inconvenience, the Maharashtra Traffic Department, under Additional Director General of Police (Traffic) Pravin Salunke, has issued an advisory with suggested alternate routes.
Alternative Routes of Mumbai Pune Expressway for Motorists
For Mumbai to Pune traffic
- Vehicles can divert via Kalamboli Circle, JNPT Road D-Point, Palaspe, and continue on National Highway (NH) 48.
- Another option is to exit at 8.200 km (Shendug Exit) and rejoin via NH-48.
For Pune to Mumbai traffic
- Vehicles can take the Khapoli Exit at 39.100 km and travel via NH-48.
- Alternatively, use the Khalapur Toll Naka Exit (32.600 km), go via Pali Bridge, and rejoin NH-48.
Motorists can get back on the expressway at Khalapur Toll Naka or Magic Point. This notification will stay in effect until the work is completed. Normal traffic will resume after 3 PM.
Additional Traffic Block on Hadapsar-Dive Ghat Stretch
Meanwhile, the Alandi-Pandharpur Palakhi Highway (Hadapsar-Dive Ghat section) will also face a temporary closure on September 16, 2025, from 11 AM to 2 PM due to road widening work that will involve blasting. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has asked commuters to use alternate routes during this time.
Commuters using the Mumbai Pune Expressway and the Hadapsar-Dive Ghat road on September 16 should plan their travel ahead of time and follow the diversion routes to avoid delays.
