Mumbai’s Aqua Line Metro Draws Record 156,000 Riders on Launch Day Amid Aarey Controversies

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) announced on Thursday evening that a total of 156,456 passengers traveled on the Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade route of Mumbai Metro Line 3 on Thursday, October 9. The highly anticipated Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line Metro, started on Thursday.

It mark a major change in Mumbai’s local travel system. With the launch of Mumbai’s first underground metro, the services had a strong opening day and attracted significant attention from commuters across the city.

Mumbai Metro Line 3 connects important residential and commercial areas. It aims to cut travel time and reduce traffic on Mumbai’s busy roads. The metro line is a valuable addition for linking South Mumbai with the suburbs, providing relief for all Mumbaikars. 

The third and final phase of the Mumbai Metro Line 3 was inaugurated on Wednesday, October 8, by PM Modi. While virtually inaugurating the third and final phase of the Aqua Line, PM Modi stated that connectivity is vital for a city’s growth. He also praised the opening of Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line 3, claiming it is a significant step for the city’s infrastructure and public transport.
