Punjab: PM Modi Renames Adampur Airport as Guru Ravidas Airport, Opens Halwara Terminal

Prime Minister Modi renamed the Adampur Airport after Guru Ravidas on Sunday, marking the revered saint’s birth anniversary. He also virtually inaugurated the terminal building at the Halwara airport in Ludhiana.

PM Modi Renames Adampur Airport

Modi arrived at the Adampur airport around 3:45 PM. He expressed pride in announcing that, on the occasion of Sant Ravidas Jayanti, the airport will now be called Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport. After this, he visited Dera Sach khand Ballan to celebrate Guru Ravidas’s 649th birth anniversary.

“This is a joyous day for countless people. It is a fitting tribute to the timeless ideals of Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji. His message of equality, compassion, and service continues to motivate us greatly,” Modi later posted on X.

Inaugurate Halwara Terminal

He also inaugurated the terminal building of the Halwara airport in Ludhiana, which will improve aviation infrastructure in Punjab. “The inauguration of a terminal building at the Halwara airport is a moment of joy for the people of Punjab, especially Ludhiana and the surrounding areas. Ludhiana is a vital industrial and commercial hub in northern India.

This city is known for its dynamic people. Our government is working hard to improve air connectivity for this city, as seen in the ongoing efforts to modernize the airport,” Modi said.
