Three people lost their lives, and one women is missing after heavy rains occurs in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on Monday night. It cause flood like situations and big damage, officials said.
District Commissioner (DC) Apoorv Devgan said, “The stretch of road stricken by heavy rain. 3 peoples have died in the location near Jail Road. One woman is missing. The search operation starts by the police, NDRF and Home Guard groups. The roads are also cleared. Many vehicles had been piled up near the clinic. Casualties reported, together with that, many homes damaged.”
He said, “We have set up a relief camp in Vipasha Sadan. Officials from the strength, PWD, Jal Shakti, and different departments are working together to provide relief.”
3 dead in heavy rainfalls in Mandi
A flood occurred in diverse parts of Mandi following heavy rainfall in the city. The local police, NDRF, and Home Guards team deployed for relief and rescue operations.
Continuous heavy rainfall late night time disrupted life in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The area has been experiencing heavy rain since 11 PM, resulting in a flood-like situation throughout diverse parts of the town. One of the worst-affected areas is the Zonal Hospital Mandi, wherein there is immoderate water accumulation and overflow from nearby drains. The main access to road to the hospital has closed.
National Highways and Roads Blocked
Reports from local administration verify a number of landslides in and around Mandi city, disrupting visitors and endangering citizens living in landslide-susceptible areas. Debris from these landslides has blocked key internal roads, adding to the chaos. The Chandigarh-Manali National Highway (NH-3) has blocked at a number of points between Mandi and Kullu, making the situations even more dire.
