Hyderabad Heavy Rains occurs, and triggers flash floods, severe waterlogging and traffic jams throughout the city. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said several low-mendacity areas affected, specifically in Ameerpet. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi inspected affected areas and directed officials to expedite drainage works and ensure activate measures.
Hyderabad Heavy Rains cause traffic and waterlogging
The unexpected downpour introduced traffic to a crawl at Lakdi-ka-pul, Dilsukhnagar, Raj Bhavan Road, Madhapur, and Gachibowli. Waterlogging also occurs from Langar House, Nanal Nagar, and KCP Junction.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police with the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), worked to pump out water and repair action. Commuters urged to cooperate with on-ground employees.
As per per the Telangana Development Planning Society, Khazaguda Sports Complex at Gachibowli recorded heavy rainfall at 123.5 mm, observed by 111.3 mm at Srinagar Colony among 8.30 am and 8 pm. In a few regions, rainfall touched 12 cm.
High alerts in rainfall affected areas
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, currently in Delhi, informed officers to stay on high alert and hold catastrophe response teams set up. He spoke to Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao and DGP Jitender, directing them to address visitors and area issues. Residents recommended to avoid travel unless necessary.
Following those instructions, the Chief Secretary held a teleconference with senior officials and ordered immediate measures to save your life, includes clearing waterlogged stretches at Raj Bhavan Road, Shaikpet, and IT hub zones.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to Hyderabad Heavy Rains with extreme spells in a few areas on Friday, caution of gusty winds all through the evening and night.
