A 24-year-old Indian student died in the United States from serious injuries sustained in a house fire. The Indian mission in the USA confirmed her death. The victim, Sahaja Reddy Udumala, was pursuing a Master’s degree in Albany, New York.

After the incident, the Albany Police Department released a statement about the fire. They said the police and fire department responded quickly once they learned of the outbreak. When they arrived, they found the entire residence engulfed in flames, and several residents were trapped inside.
They managed to locate four adult victims inside the residence. Emergency medical personnel treated them on the scene before transporting them to a hospital for serious injuries. Two of the victims were later sent to a medical burn center for further treatment.

“She struggled a lot, fighting with all her strength. Despite all medical efforts, her condition continued to worsen, and she ultimately experienced complete organ failure, which led to her passing this morning,” Gopu said. She also noted that Udumala was known for her kindness, determination, and the warmth she shared with those around her, as reported by the news agency.
Gopu launched a fundraiser to cover expenses for the funeral, memorial, repatriation, family support, and other costs arising from this tragic accident in USA.
“Losing her so suddenly has left our family devastated and dealing with unexpected emotional and financial hardships,” Gopu added. So far, over USD 109,000 has been raised through donations out of a total goal of USD 120,000.
