Bangladesh like Situation in Pakistan, Several killed as fans demand release of Imran Khan

From all over Pakistan, huge protests have been observed, which are no less than those organized in Bangladesh seeking the release of Imran Khan. A three-year sentence was given to the former prime minister in the Toshakhana case on August 5, 2023. He remains the prime bone of contention in the political unrest faced by the country. Protesters, mostly belonging to Khan’s PTI party, demand his immediate release.

The calls for his release are getting louder, while the PTI claims that heavy firing by the army on protesters in Islamabad has caused numerous causalities. The leadership of PTI accused the government of imposing an unofficial martial law to respond to the protests. But despite the heavy-handedness of the military, PTI persists with the claim that their fight for Khan’s release will not be silenced.

Khan is the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan, serving from August 2018 to April 2022; he still commands a huge following, mainly from his fanbase. More than two years have gone by since Khan was ousted from power. His case tally, which he claims was politically motivated, has crossed 150. Now, with his sentencing under Section 174 of the Election Act, the public outcry has grown even stronger, and people want Khan out of jail.
