The Ghana Helicopter Crash on Wednesday and killed all 8 people aboard. It includes the West African Defence and Environment Ministers and different top officials, the government said.
The Ghanaian army said the helicopter took off in the morning from the capital, Accra, and began heading northwest into the interior towards the gold-mining location of Obuasi in the Ashanti area whilst it went off the radar. The wreckage later discovered in the Adansi city of Ashanti.
Environment and defence Ministers killed in Ghana Helicopter Crash
The reason of the crash was not immediately revealed, and the army said an investigation going on. Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed killed with the vice-chair of the National Democratic Congress ruling birthday party, a top National Security Adviser, and group members.
Mourners assembled at Boamah’s residence and at the party headquarters, and Ghana’s government defined the crash as a “national tragedy.” State media said that the aircraft was a Z-9 helicopter that is used for delivery and medical analysis.
Worst air failure of crash
An online video of the Ghana Helicopter Crash site indicates debris on the fire in a woodland as some residents circle around to help. Wednesday’s crash was one of Ghana’s worst air failures in more than a decade. In May 2014, a provider helicopter crashed off the coast, killing three people. In 2012, a shipment aircraft overran the runway in Accra and crashed into a carrying passengers, killing 10 people.
