How many Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023?

Israeli strikes on Gaza have caused more than 45,000 Palestinians to be killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The attacks have also left over 106,000 people wounded, leaving the territory in a dire humanitarian crisis. The latest 24-hour period has seen 52 Palestinians killed and 203 others wounded.

Israeli forces targeted the school Ahmed Abdulaziz, which is run by UNRWA in southern Khan Yunis and houses dispossessed families, killing at least 20 people, including children. Further, the attack on yet another school in Beit Hanoun took some 43 lives increasing the toll of Palestinians killed in Gaza.

The war has been severely affecting the civil population, including doctors and nurses. Nurse Walid al-Badi in the Kamal Adwan Hospital narrated the collapse of the health services in northern Gaza. “They are dying in the streets, the bleeding wounded, and we can’t help,” he was lamenting the losses he suffered from his colleagues and friends to the war. This brings out the desperation among healthcare providers during the onslaught of attacks on health facilities.

Over 45,000 Palestinians killed in Gaza but the number doesn’t stop

Israeli forces also hit a civil defense post, killing Al Jazeera journalist Ahmed al-Louh and five rescue workers. Gaza-based journalist Mohammed al-Masri shared a video of the devastation, underlining the mounting crisis as Palestinians killed in Gaza continue to rise.

However, things are more volatile beyond Gaza. Israel conducted airstrikes on Lebanon’s Sidon district with its drones; three were reportedly injured and each side accused the other of breaching a recent truce. Meanwhile, Israel also promised to expand its settlements in the occupied Golan Heights.

This massive Palestinian death toll in Gaza signifies the grave and colossal scale of the still-going-on violence with families, healthcare, and other forms of infrastructure bearing its share of suffering. Demands for urgent international intervention fall on deaf ears as the humanitarian crisis unfolds and worsens.
