Indian Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh revealed on Friday that Pakistan requested a ceasefire during Operation Sindoor. He emphasized that the halt in fighting on May 10 occurred due to Islamabad’s plea for peace. He described the operation as a decisive action with a clear aim. The Air Chief Marshal said that India destroyed around 12 Pakistani aircraft during Operation Sindoor, including 9 to 10 fighter jets.
India destroyed 12 Aircraft in Op Sindoor
Regarding the operation, Air Chief Marshal Singh mentioned the clarity of the directive and the quick conclusion. “This is one war that started with a clear objective and ended quickly, without dragging it out. Unlike ongoing conflicts worldwide, where hostilities continue for a long time, we managed to push the adversary where they asked for a ceasefire. As a nation, we also chose to stop hostilities once we achieved our goals. This is a lesson the world should learn from us.” “A firm mandate was given to the IAF, and we took the operation to a point where they called for a ceasefire,” he said.
IAF Chief Replied on Pakistan Losses
Responding to a question about the losses, India Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said, “As far as Pakistan’s losses are concerned, we struck a large number of their airfields and installations. Because of these strikes, radars in at least four locations, command and control centers at two places and runways damaged. Additionally, three of their hangars at different bases damaged.”
He also noted that 4 to 5 fighter aircraft, likely F-16s from Pakistan, were destroyed during Op Sindoor. “We have indications of one C-130 class of aircraft and at least 4 to 5 fighter aircraft, since that location happened to be where F-16s were under maintenance.
