A 44-year-old India Man Dies in Canada due tocardiac arrest on December 25, 2025. He had waited for over 8 hours for treatment in a hospital’s emergency room. The man, Prashant Sreekumar, started feeling severe chest pains while at work on December 22.
A client drove him to Grey Nuns Hospital in southeast Edmonton, where he checked in and then sat in the waiting room. His father, Kumar Sreekumar, arrived shortly after. “He told me, ‘Papa, I cannot manage the pain,’” Mr. Kumar said. His son described the pain as a 15 out of 10 to both his father and hospital staff.

They conducted an electrocardiogram (ECG) to assess his heart functioning. However, the family reported that Prashant was told there was nothing significant and to continue waiting. The staff also offered him some Tylenol for the pain. He waited a long time. Despite nurses seeking immediate help, Prashant died due to cardiac arrest, the report indicated.
Father blames hospital staff to kill his son due to long hours waiting
Mr. Kumar mentioned that, over time, the nurses monitored Prashant’s blood pressure. “It shot up quickly; to me, it was through the roof.” More than eight hours passed before staff finally called him into the treatment area. “After about 10 seconds, he looked at me, stood up, put his hand on his chest, and just collapsed. They took my child for nothing,” he added.
Prashant is survived by his wife and three children, aged 10 and 14. The family enjoyed traveling together and described Prashant as a “goofball” with his kids. “He was a family man. Everyone had praises for him after meeting him,” Mr. Kumar said.
