Moments after US President Donald Trump said the US mediated a Ceasefire among India and Pakistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) stated an knowledge was reached with Pakistan in direct talks. As per MEA statement, the Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan known as the DGMO of India at 15:35 hours on Saturday. “It was agreed between them that each sides could stop all firing and army actions on land and in the air and sea with impact from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time today,” it said.
Next Talks on Ceasefire on 12 May
Instructions have been given to both sides to give impact to the ceasefire knowledge amid rising tensions because the attack on April 22. The DGMOs of India and Pakistan will hold talks again on May 12, said the MEA.
In a briefing this night, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi stated Pakistan had suffered unsustainable losses over the previous days, after it launched unprovoked attacks on Indian army and civilian infrastructure. She stated India had destroyed Pakistan’s offensive and protecting skills.
The Indian army said no person’s assistance was sought, and the decision for a ceasefire settlement was initiated through Pakistan. The Indus Waters Treaty, which was suspended by India in light of the Pahalgam terror attack, will remain in abeyance.
Pakistan Reopens Airspace
Earlier, Trump said that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate Ceasefire after a “long night time of talks mediated by the US”. “Congratulations to each Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence,” he introduced. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who held talks with the top management of each countries, also showed the development.
Shortly after the ceasefire was showed, Pakistan reopened its airspace for all flights. The airspace was closed after India released airstrikes in response to repeated ceasefire violations by using Pakistan over the Line of Control (LoC).
