Iran has claimed that it launched a cruise missile toward the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, according to Iranian state television. However, US officials have not confirmed this nor responded.
Iran’s Army public relations reported that coastal cruise missiles fired in the direction of the US aircraft carrier.
Iran to launch Missile Strike on USS Abraham Lincoln
This development follows a direct warning from the Iranian Navy to the United States. They said that the USS Abraham Lincoln is under close watch and targeted if it gets near Iranian territory.
According to state broadcaster Press TV, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral ShahramIrani warned that the aircraft carrier hit by the Army Navy if it entered the reach of Iran’s missile systems. He mentioned that the vessel closely monitored.
Withdrew a 48-hour ultimatum
The warning included broader comments from senior Iran military officials dismissing American influence. Press TV reported that Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said the “strategic power” the United States previously claimed has now “turned into a strategic defeat.”
These statements follow what has been described as a de-escalation by US President Donald Trump. He withdrew a 48-hour ultimatum to launch strikes against Iranian power plants. This shift occurred after Iran warned that any such attack would result in retaliation against energy and power infrastructure across the region.
In response to the US change, Zolfaqari said, “If the self-proclaimed superpower of the world could have escaped this predicament, it would have done so by now. Do not call your defeat an agreement.”
