Iran war conflict now affects the India’s oil reserves and Middle Eastern energy supply. It also affects the hospitality sector of country. This sector is now struggling with LPG Shortage to power its stoves.
Around 33 crore households in India affected due to the LPG shortages, includes famous restaurants.
Iran War hit India with LPG Shortage
As a result, commercial kitchens in Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and other cities have turned to wood fires, often using scrap wood as fuel, to keep providing food. In some cases, the situation is so bad that restaurants have stopped serving certain items or switched to dishes that require less gas, opting for faster cooking options.
Hotels luxury food menu affected
In Karnataka, for example, the well-known Bangalore Thindies, located across from the Congress state office, is now only serving coffee and tea. Before the LPG Shortage, it offered a menu of 11 items, including dosa, idli, vada, and rice dishes.
The café owner told that while LPG cylinders are available on the black market, they come at very high prices.
On Tuesday, hotel owners’ associations in Chennai and Bengaluru raised this issue. They highlighted that their service is essential and urged the federal government to resume gas supply. “The industry operates 24/7 in many cases,” said M Ravi, President of a Chennai association, in an appeal to CM MK Stalin and PM Modi. “Hospitals, IT parks, students, and train catering will be affected without a steady supply of commercial LPG.”
