The Pakistan government X Account was blocked in India 2 day after deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology asked social media platform X to suspends the official account of the Government of Pakistan in India. In compliance with the request, the account has been suspended and is not available to users in India.
India Orders to Suspends Pakistan government X Account
The order follows a sequence of sweeping diplomatic and strategic countermeasures against Pakistan, consisting of the powerful downgrading of diplomatic members of the family with Pakistan, closure of key border routes, suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, and the expulsion of Pakistani army attaches from its High Commission in New Delhi.
In a further blow to bilateral ties, Pakistani nationals had been barred from visiting India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme, with all previously issued visas declared void. Those already present in India had been directed to leave the country in 48 hours.
About Pahalgam Terror Attack
On Tuesday afternoon, 5 to 6 terrorists opened a fire on a set of tourists in the Baisaran meadow, which is around 5 km from Pahalgam. The meadow – also called ‘mini Switzerland’ – is available best by foot or by horseback. The Pahalgam carnage was one of the deadliest civilian attacks in the Kashmir Valley in recent years. The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed duty for the attack.
Eyewitnesses said the terrorists emerged from the surrounding pine forests and fired at people picnicking, riding ponies, or eating at food stalls. Most of the victims were tourists, together with foreigners from the UAE and Nepal and two locals. This is also reason behind Pakistan government X Account suspension.
