Afghanistan has accused Pakistan’s military of carrying out an air strike on a Kabul Hospital for drug users. It results in the deaths of at least 400 people. Pakistan rejected this claim, calling it false and misleading. They said that they only targeted military sites in Kabul and Nangahar.
Pakistan Strikes Kabul Hospital, kills hundreds
The strike on Kabul’s Omar Addiction Treatment Hospital occurred around 9 PM local time (16:30 GMT), according to Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesman for Afghanistan’s Taliban government.
The hospital, which has 2,000 beds, suffered significant damage from the raid, Fitrat noted on X. He added, “Unfortunately, the death toll has now reached 400, with around 250 others injured. Rescue teams are currently on-site, working to control the fire and recover the remaining bodies of the victims.”
Footage of fire fighters battling flames out
Local television stations aired footage of fire fighters battling flames among the debris of the building. Omid Stanikzai, a 31-year-old security guard at the hospital, told agency that he heard jets flying overhead before the attack.
“There were military units all around us. When these military units fired at the jet, it dropped bombs, and a fire broke out,” he explained. He also noted that all the deceased and injured were civilians.
