The Palestinian death toll from the 20-month Israel-Hamas conflict has increase over 55,000, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Wednesday. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, meanwhile, stated that Israel’s forces recovered the stays of additional hostages held in Gaza because the October 7, 2023 attack by Hamas on southern Israel that starts the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
The Gaza Health Ministry does not distinguish between civilians and warring parties, but has said that women and children cause than half the 55,000 dead. Israel says it most effective targets militants and blames civilian deaths on Hamas, accusing the militants of hiding amongst civilians, because they operate in populated regions.
55,104 people killed in Israel-Hamas war
The ministry says 55,104 people killed for the reason that start of the conflict and 1,27,394 wounded. Many more believed to buried under the rubble or in areas which are inaccessible to local medics.
The Health Ministry is a part of Gaza’s Hamas-run authorities, but staffed by medical experts who hold and post certain information. Its tolls from previous conflicts have largely aligned with those of experts, though Israel has questioned the ministry’s figures.

Netanayu’s office recognized as one of the hostages recovered on Wednesday as Yair Yaakov, who killed during the October 7, 2023 attack. The identity of the second hostage whose body recovered not disclosed.
