In an astonishing escalation, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) issues a serious threat to the Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma. The pro-Khalistani leader outfit uploaded a threatening video depicting the photo of Verma being peppered with bullets. This new threat comes at a time when tensions are growing between India and Canada after allegations of Indian intelligence involvement in the murder of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar this year.
While this particular threat is serious, the government of Canada has been severely condemned for not taking decisive action against the Khalistani group, refusing to investigate or take action.
The threat the SFJ issued against the Indian High Commissioner raises serious concerns about the safety of Indian diplomats in Canada. This is perhaps the second time that Sanjay Kumar Verma, who was targeted earlier in diplomatic disputations involving both countries, is facing threats from a terrorist organization.
India-Canada relationships worsened!
Again, this indicates the growing influence of Khalistani elements in Canada as they go scot-free. The apparent inaction by the Canadian government has only deepened the crisis in the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
India has, on several occasions, raised its voiced objection regarding the growing activities of Khalistani separatists in Canada, but the situation has taken a different turn with the SFJ issuing a threat against the Indian High Commissioner.
The video openly shows violent intent and has not seen the much-needed reaction in a typically firm stance by Canadian authorities, extending the mess between India and Canada. Inaction like this invites severe criticism India has pressed upon Canada, accusing it of offering shelter to Khalistani terrorists under the garb of political liberties.

This does not stop the Canadian government from appearing to turn a blind eye to repeated pleas by Indian officials and to leave Indian diplomats in danger at home. When it is signalled that SFJ issues a threat against the Indian High Commissioner without facing any legal consequences, that is seen as the complete collapse of governance and a very dangerous precedent where protecting extremists turns out to be over and above having a complete balance between protecting extremism and relations between countries.
