South Korea considers deploying military intelligence personnel in Ukraine as the tension spreads regarding claims that North Korean forces are supporting Russian forces as the war picks up. According to a report by the Yonhap news agency, the deployment will aim to monitor the military activities of North Korea in Ukraine.
Seoul’s spy agency recently claimed that Pyongyang has despatched a large-scale contingent of troops including around 1,500 special forces into the Russian Far East for training ahead of deployment to the front lines in Ukraine. Although its UN representative termed them as baseless rumours, South Korea has decided to help Ukraine by gaining some insights into North Korean military strategies.

Sending a team of military intelligence personnel may soon happen as South Korea attempts to size up the strategies by which North Korean forces may fight on the battlefields. Watching the way such plans are being put into practice in Ukraine, the tech powerhouse is leaning towards siding with Ukraine and raising the levels of intelligence within its own shores.
These personnel would then be particularly picked from the greatest units of military intelligence that the Republic of Korea has and might even assist with questioning any North Korean soldier who could be captured. This is part of a larger effort on the part of the K-beauty hub to oppose the North Korean forces’ involvement in Russia’s war.
South Korea also contemplates offering more support for Ukraine beyond humanitarian aid.
