Donald Trump claimed that he played a key role in stopping a war between India and Pakistan. He said his intervention prevented what he called a potential nuclear conflict between the two neighboring countries.

During a press interaction, Trump said, “I have solved 8 wars. Thailand is starting to improve with Cambodia, but I think we have it in pretty good shape.”
He also said, “We stopped a potential nuclear war between Pakistan and India. The Prime Minister of Pakistan said that President Trump saved 10 million lives, maybe more.” Further he claimed the situation was escalating quickly, saying, “Eight planes were shot down” and that the conflict was about to escalate into a larger war before it was halted.
“Eight planes were shot down. That war was starting to rage. The only war I haven’t solved yet is Russia-Ukraine,” he said.
His trade tariffs strategy to stop India- Pakistan Conflict
Trump remarks referred to the 4 day military standoff between India and Pakistan that followed New Delhi’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in 26 deaths.
He also claimed he used trade tariffs to stop the India-Pakistan conflict, stating several times that his intervention resolved the crisis within 24 hours. However, India has denied these claims. New Delhi has consistently said that the de-escalation came after established military communications between the two countries.
According to India, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations contacted the Indian DGMO after suffering heavy losses, leading both sides to agree to stop all firing and military action on land, in the air, and at sea starting May 10. Indian officials have emphasized that the ceasefire was a mutual military decision and not due to any outside mediation.
