Trump Slaps Brazil with 50% tariffs, send Tariffs Letters to 8 More Countries

In a new trade update, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday slapped a 50 % tariff on Brazilian from August 1. It blasts the trial of the United States’s ex-chief Jair Bolsonaro as a “Witch Hunt.” Earlier in the day, he imposed price lists as high as 30 % on goods from 7 countries, which include Libya, Iraq, and Algeria, among others. The declaration made by the American President on his Truth Social platform through letters posted for every USA mentioning the tariff rates.

The pass comes close on the heels of Trump’s earlier notifications to 14 countries — in which he accused them of contributing to alternate deficits and blocking off US exports. The new tariffs will effect from August 1, pending negotiations.

Earlier on Tuesday, Trump had said at a cabinet meeting that “a letter method a deal”. Separately, he noted that the new levies effect on August 1, 2025.

What did US administration say about BRICS?

While speaking to newshounds on the cabinet assembly, Trump claimed that BRICS set to “hurt” the United States and “degenerate” the greenback as he warned that the member international locations of the bloc could face a 10 % tariff. “They need to pay 10 % if they’re in BRICS,” he said.
