Praising India as a land of unmatched opportunities, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday for talks with PM Modi. As India approaches becoming the world’s third-largest economy by 2028, Starmer’s visit, along with a business delegation, highlights the UK’s effort to strengthen trade and investment ties.
125 business leaders with Keir Starmer arrives in Mumbai
Starmer’s two-day trip follows the signing of a significant trade agreement in July. His delegation includes 125 leading businesses from the UK, aiming to deepen economic engagement between the two countries.
The British leader welcomed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and state Governor Acharya Devvrat.
PM focus on UK India Partnership
Before his meeting with PM Modi set for Thursday, Keir Starmer emphasized the progress of the UK-India partnership. “We signed a major trade deal with India in July, the best secured by any country, but the story doesn’t stop there,” he said, referring to ongoing efforts to expand on existing agreements.
The two leaders scheduled to take part in the CEO Forum and the 6th edition of the Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai. These sessions aim to promote discussions between senior policymakers and business leaders from both nations, focusing on practical outcomes for collaboration and innovation.
