Mumbai International Convention Center of Adani in Direct Rivalry with Reliance
Adani Group’s ambitious ICC project will compete with the Jio World Convention Centre established and owned by Reliance Group at BKC in Bandra, Mumbai. The Adani’s Vile Parle ICC has a geographical advantage in that it is located close to the airport, so visitors from different parts of the world can reach the venue easily.
The planned International Convention Center covers an area of 1.5 million square feet sufficient to accommodate over 20,000 guests. As much as 1.2 million square feet will be devoted to indoor exhibition facilities, while approximately 0.3 million square feet will be allocated to parking and related activities. In addition to the venue, a 5-star hotel with around 275 rooms will come up in close proximity, making the site more attractive.
At present, the title for the largest in the city falls to Jio World Convention Centre at 1 million square feet. On the other hand, Adani International Convention Center will tower above it in the upcoming times despite the existence of Yashobhumi, New Delhi, which is the largest in the country and covers 3.2 million square feet of space.
The Role of Convention Centres
Convention centers’ main purpose is to busy trade and management of trade all over the world. Even more importantly, they are the linkage mechanisms between the domestic business and the global market in a way that cannot be replicated in any other way. Thus, the Mumbai ICC should lead to a significant growth of the city as a Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination.
