Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar shared a troubling real-life incident on Friday involving his 13-year-old daughter and online gaming. He highlighted the growing threat of cybercrime among children.
Akshay Kumar spoke about threatening experience
He recalled that a few months ago, while playing an online game, his daughter was contacted by an unknown person who asked her to send nude pictures of herself. Akshay spoke about this experience during the opening ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai.
“I want to share a small incident that happened at my house a few months ago. My daughter was playing a video game, and some games allow you to play with others. You can be matched with a stranger,” Akshay said. “While she was playing, she received a message asking, ‘Are you male or female?’ She replied female. Then he sent a message asking, ‘Can you send me nude pictures of yourself?’ It was my daughter. She turned it off and told my wife. This is how things start. This is also part of cybercrime.
Actor urge Maharashtra CM to spread cyber awareness
I urge the CM that in our Maharashtra state, every week on the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth grades, there should be a class on cyber safety where children are educated about this. Everyone knows this crime is becoming more widespread than street crime. It is crucial to stop it,” Akshay Kumar said.
The ‘Welcome’ star also asked the government to make cyber education a weekly subject for students in grades 7 to 10, so they can remain safe and informed in the rapidly changing digital world.
