Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of infamous gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was taken into custody in Sacramento last week for entering the United States with forged documents. Though he is grappling with various Indian law enforcement agencies owing to high-profile charges including the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022 and the recent murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, his arrests, however, are not linked to these allegations.
According to Indian intelligence sources, despite Delhi’s formal request for extradition being submitted earlier this month, the United States has no imminent plans to extradite Anmol Bishnoi to India. Nevertheless, the American officials have apprised their Indian counterparts about the apprehension and Irwin’s arrest. Bishnoi is presently in detainment at the Pottawattamie County Jail in Iowa as per the records of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Anmol Bishnoi, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, has multiple cases to his name
Anmol Bishnoi, an associate of his sibling Lawrence Bishnoi, who runs a crime syndicate, often moves between the U.S. and Canada – the gang’s home base. His conduct is also under the radar of the Canadian authorities. Once again, India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has disclosed Anmol’s name with respect to two cases, one of which relates to the enterprise aiming to enlist young people for terrorist treatment.
Interpol issued a Red Corner notice against Anmol Bishnoi and a non-bailable arrest warrant was recently issued against him by a court in Maharashtra. Moreover, NIA has listed him in the wanted criminals section and offered a reward of 10 lakhs for his arrest.
The activities of the Bishnoi gang have been very closely examined after the Sidhu Mooosewala murder case and the recent killing of Baba Siddique. The gang also received coverage after a shooting outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in April along with the threats over the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
