In a country where sports administration often faces scrutiny for various reasons, the Odisha Gymnastics Association has introduce a curious case. The organization continues to use the name of a president who died over a year ago for communications seeking funds from the state government.
Rs 1.96 Crore Invoice Found in Odisha Gymnastics Association
A complaint filed with the commissioner-cum-secretary of Odisha’s Sports & Youth Services Department has raised questions about how the OGA was able to secure nearly Rs 98 lakh from the state government for the 2026 National Gymnastics Championships.
Invoice on name of Deceased President’s Name, get funds from state government
It occurred despite invoices totaling more than Rs 1.96 crore and official documents still listing the late Samir Dey as president. The event took place from April 25 to May 3 at Kalinga Stadium. Dey, a former minister in the previous Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government, passed away in November 2024.
