26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Tahawwur Rana is to reach India on Wednesday, as mentioned by Republic. Earlier on April 7, the USA (US) Supreme Court rejected the plea of Tahawwur Rana, accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks , looking for a live on his extradition to India.
Tahawwur Rana is in NIA Custody
Rana is anticipated to stay in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for several weeks. The operation became led by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, with officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, as pronounced via TOI.
Meanwhile, speaking on the rejection via the Supreme Court to the extradition stay request of Rana, Uttar Pradesh’s former Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh stated that the choice was ‘full-size’ and accompanied high-level discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the US President Donald Trump, ANI suggested.
“This decision is big and follows high-level discussions among Prime Minister Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump. Now, only a few formalities like office work and diplomatic processes, stay before this return,” Singh said talking to ANI.
Rana links to Lashkar-e-Taiba
He also stated that considering Tahawwur Rana was related to Lashkar-e-Taiba, his interrogation might make him a key determinant in discovering deeper terror networks.
“The NIA is fully organized, and once he’s delivered back, custodial interrogation may be performed by multiple group, including the NIA, IB, Mumbai Police. Rana’s links to Lashkar-e-Taiba and his affiliation with David Coleman Headley – who remains in a U.S. Prison – make him a key determine in uncovering deeper terror networks. Once in India, his interrogation will reveal important records around sleeper cells, guide networks and in all even names from the Mumbai film industry who assisted Headley at some stage in his recce” he said.
