Kakinada DSP Srihari Raju said Rao took the girl to a mango orchard on the outskirts of Tuni, where he allegedly tried to molest her. The incident came to light when the orchard owner noticed suspicious behavior and recorded a video of Rao. Realizing this, Rao fled the scene on his scooter with the girl. After the victim’s relatives filed a complaint, police tracked him down and arrested him.
DSP Srihari Raju said that a case has registered under the strict provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He noted, “Since the accused took a minor away from school, it qualifies as kidnapping. Serious charges, including those related to rape, have been added.” The DSP added that the investigation was moving quickly, and the accused presented in court soon.
