A road raging case called’ Akash Maine beaten to death in Mumbai, Malad area’ went viral on social media. In the case of road, a 27-year-old man lost his life in the bustling city. The altercation that led to the tragic killing started after a dispute over overtaking near Malad railway station on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
He was accompanied by his parents during the event. Akash was out on Dussehra to purchase a new car. An auto-rickshaw overtook his vehicle, and Akash started arguing with the rickshaw driver. The argument soon turned violent and aggressive.
The auto-rickshaw driver and his friends attacked Akash. Akash was grossly battered during the assault. A video of the attack is doing the rounds on social media. In the video, Akash’s mother is seen covering him with her body as if to shield him from his assailants. She had lay down on top of him to shield him. His father is seen begging the assailants to stop battering his son. The assailants would not relent; they continued battering Akash.
The case against the accused has been lodged by police under relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Four main accused, including the auto-rickshaw driver, have been identified. Other three associates were the perpetrators who all attacked. Altogether nine people have been arrested in this case.

The police are further investigating the case. The law enforcers are questioning eyewitnesses who were present during the incident. Akash’s parents, especially his mother, have been traumatized by the attack. The local community is outraged over the incident.
Authorities are also investigating the viral video in the course of the investigation. The area in which the incident happened is being patrolled to prevent any backlash from the public. The motive for such a brutal onslaught seems to be caused by road rage alone. Police are following all leads to determine just how events unfolded that culminated to the murder. The arrested suspects are now being questioned by the authorities.
This case brings to the fore the deteriorating problem of road rage in cities and towns. Activists and residents demand justice for the Akash family.
