A 26-year-old man killed in a holi clash between two families in the JJ Colony area of Uttam Nagar in southwest Delhi. Investigation shows that a stray splash from a balloon filled with colored water triggered the dispute.

The deceased was identified as Tarun, who died from his injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital. According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday when members of the two families started fighting in the area. Several people from both sides were injured in the clash.
Family members of the deceased reported that an 11-year-old girl, who was playing Holi on her terrace, threw a water balloon towards her relatives below. The balloon fell on the road and burst, splashing colored water onto a woman from the other family, who belongs to a different community.

Tarun’s grandfather, Maan Singh, claimed that the woman started shouting and instigated a fight over the incident. He said that though things seemed to calm down at first, members of the other family later gathered and attacked Tarun as he was returning home after celebrating holi. “They beat Tarun badly. When he lay on the road, someone threw a big stone at his chest,” Singh alleged.
Tarun was taken to a hospital, where he later died during treatment, police said. “We learned that the fight started from throwing balloons, and we are looking into the matter.
